Is it the history of colonialism, foreign military intervention, and occupation? Nope. Endemic poverty? Nope. Corruption and elite capture? Nope.

Haiti Can't Catch a Break

I don't really have anything interesting or insightful to say about the earthquake in Haiti. I just find it incredibly depressing that, according to this Newshour report I watched the night before last, the country had finally achieved a modicum of stability and, perhaps, a window in which in might be able to move, as one government official puts it in the clip, from misery into poverty.
